This portrait painting is of Tyler Bailey painted in black and white oil paint. The original photograph, take by photographer Gretchen Mathison, showed Tyler with a lollipop in her mouth. The original photograph was taken in black and white. Since the painting is done in black and white as well, a red and pink peppermint stick was painted in place of the lollipop. The small amount of color contrasts greatly with the black and white paint, making the peppermint stick eye catching and drawing then observer even farther into the painting.
